Whistler Singers

A non-auditioned adult choir, the Whistler Singers have sung for our community since the early 1980s. To join the choir, all you need is the desire to sing with others. The choir presents two concerts a year – in December and in May – as well as joining the Whistler Children’s Chorus for the Christmas Eve Carol Service. An annual event, the Whistler Singers carol through the village leading up to Christmas, spreading the joy of the season to visitors and residents alike. The choir is often asked to sing our national anthem for public and private functions.

Repertoire is varied with a focus on music that is fun to sing – from early madrigals to modern-day show tunes. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7 until 9 pm in the Music room at Whistler Secondary School. For the 2011/2012 season, the choir begins meeting on September 8th – an organizational and social meeting, with rehearsals resuming the following Thursday (September 15th). Interested singers are welcome to come and ‘try it out’ before making a commitment. Membership fees are kept minimal and are put toward rehearsal and performance space costs. New members are always very welcome. For more information, contact Alison Hunter.
