It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Although it hasn’t begun to snow yet, the choirs are busy preparing music for the upcoming holiday season. With caroling events beginning next weekend (November 25th), we can’t be too prepared! Check out our events page to see where to find the choirs over the weeks leading up to Christmas. Don’t forget to mark December 11th on your calendars. Our annual concert to benefit the Whistler Food Bank will be at Our Lady of the Mountains Church on Sunday, December 11th at 5 pm. A Christmas Tale will feature songs that tell a story with some new – A Porcupine in a Pine Tree – as well as some annual favourites – Six White Boomers. Admission is by donation to the Whistler Food Bank so come join us for some holiday cheer.

Whistler remembers

We were so proud of the amazing singing as well as the respectful behaviour of our choir members during Whistler’s Remembrance Day ceremony. Despite the rain, there were many in attendance.  The sound was great – thanks to our amazing sound guy Andrew – and the Whistler Children’s Chorus and Whistler Singers were in fine voice.

Off to a great singing start

The choir sang wonderfully & scarily at our first concert of the year. Our Lady of the Mountains Church was the gathering place for ghouls, witches, mummies, lions, stormtroopers, princesses and so much more at our Harvest Moon concert held on October 30th. The concert was a great start to our singing year!

Get Ready to Sing – 2016 / 2017 choir year

Planning is well underway for the upcoming Whistler Children’s Chorus year of singing. Three formal concerts have been booked. On October 30th the choir will present This is Halloween – a fall concert complete with costumes, props and songs. The choir will host their annual Christmas concert to benefit the Whistler Food Bank on December 11th. Christmas Tales will be a combination of songs and storytelling focusing on winter and Christmas. Shortly after Earth Day in April 2017, the choir will present their annual spring concert – Honour the Earth. Of course, there’s lots more singing for International Day of Peace, Remembrance Day, Bizarre Bazaar, Santa’s arrival at the Chateau Whistler and the Christmas Eve Carol Service. As well, we’ll return in the spring to the Howe Sound Music Festival and hope to take part in the Vancouver Kiwanis Choral Festival.
