August, 2012:

Get Ready to Sing!

September is just around the corner so it’s time to tune up your singing voices!  This year marks 20 years for the Whistler Children’s Chorus and we have plans to celebrate.  The choir will be appearing in unexpected places to commit ‘random acts of singing’ throughout this choir year in addition to our regular concert schedule.  Our spring concert will also be a reunion so we are inviting all our choir alumni to join us.  Molly Boyd who founded the Whistler Children’s Chorus will be our special guest conductor.

Registration opens this month on the website and brochures are available at the Whistler Public Library, Whistler Secondary, Spring Creek and Myrtle Philip schools.  Rehearsals for the intermediate and junior choirs begin on September 11th while the Chorus starts the week before on September 6th.  All are at the same times at the same locations (and fees remain the same).

Janet and I will be in Vancouver next week at the Northwest Music Reading Sessions – two days reading through choir music from 9 am until 5 pm with 200 other choir directors.  We’ve already chosen some great music and hope to find some new and exciting songs there.

Similar to last year, we’ll be leaping right into performance when we sing for Peace in Whistler  on September 20th at the Olympic Plaza during the International Peace Week Celebrations.   It was a wonderful and inspiring way to begin our choir year last year and I know it will be again.

I hope you have all had a wonderful and relaxing summer.  Janet and I look forward to singing with you in September.
